House of Iran is located in the cultural hub of San Diego in Balboa Park,
California. Balboa Park hosts 15
million visitors per year from all over the world.

House of Iran became a chartered member of the House of Pacific Relations
(HPR) in 1992.

The land for the Cottage was granted to the House of Iran by the City of San
Diego.

The architecture and interior design concept was a donation from a group of
professional San Diego Iranian-Americans.
The House of Iran cottage is a historical building and its approvals
was
granted by seventeen separate committees.

The goal of the project was to build a Cottage in a Persian motif to
showcase the rich Persian culture and heritage, in order to share Persian
culture with visitors from all nations to Balboa Park.

Funding for construction became possible through the generous donations of
mainly the Iranian- American community of San Diego.

The ground breaking of the cottage took place on July 5, 2000, by the
Assistant City Manager.

The grand opening of the Cottage was on October 18, 2003 and the cottage was
officiated by a representative from the Mayor’s office, District 3 City
Council office, Park & Recreation
Department and the House of Iran President.
The cottage was then donated to the City of San Diego as a gift from
the Iranian-American community in appreciation of the opportunities that the
Iranian-American community has found and enjoyed in this beautiful city.
The operation of the House of Iran is run through the volunteer work
and dedication of the House of Iran Board of Directors and the House of Iran
members.

The replica of the First Declaration of Human Rights of Cyrus the Great
cylinder was laid outside of the Cottage on March 25, 2004 and was unveiled
by the Mayor of San Diego.

House of Iran is a non-profit organization and its operations are in
accordance with Section 501- C-3 of the Internal Revenue Service Code.

House of Iran is open to the public every Sunday, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.
It hosts special events and general meetings.

The funding for the daily operation of the House of Iran is provided by the
membership fees and sale of food during two major events of December Nights
and the Ruz-e-Iran functions.

organization and its affiliation is only with the House of Pacific Relations
(HPR), of Balboa Park.

The flag of the House of Iran is cultural flag of three colors of green,
white and red, without any emblem and any political resemblance and
affiliation.
